Candy Land - By Katie

This is a short story my little sister has begun to write. She is nine years old and this is the first thing she has written.

Candy Land
Part One

One day Katie and Chloe were racing down the street.  Then a triangle appeared on the road made with light from the sky. It was quite big, we looked at each other then ran into the triangle.
Flash.
Everything was white.
Flash.
It was very different.
“Where are we?” Asked Katie.
“I think it’s Candy Land.” Answered Chloe.
“It’s just like that book.” Katie said amazed.
It was complete candy, trees were lolly pops or bouncy candy trees. They were amazed.
“Let’s go explore.” Suggested Katie.
“Sure.” Exclaimed Chloe.
But before they could move-
“Hi, welcome to candy land. My names Gingy.” Said the gingerbread man.
“Hi, I’m Katie.”
“And I’m Chloe.”
“Would you like me to show you around?” Asked Gingy.
“Yes, yes, yes!” They exclaimed.
“Let’s go then.” Said Gingy.
They followed Gingy out of the woods. They came to a chocolate waterfall.
“Wow.” They both screamed.
“That’s amazing.” Shouted Katie.
“You bet.” Agreed Chloe.
“It’s made of freshly made milk chocolate.” Said Gingy.
“Are we allowed to try it.” Asked Chloe.
“Go ahead.” Said Gingy. “But be careful you don’t fall in.”
“Yeah.” They both screamed.
“That tastes amazing.” They both said at the same time.
“We better get going.” Gingy told them.
“Coming.” Said Katie.
“Me too.” Said Chloe.
They carried on going through the candy kane woods. It was amazing how it was all candy.
“Now we are at the bouncy trees.” Gingy told them.
“Bouncy!” Katie exclaimed,
“Yes jump on a branch and it will shoot you up to the next one.” Gingy told both girls.
“Can we try?” Asked Katie.
“If you like but be careful.”
“Ok.” They both said.
So they jumped on the same branch and it shot them up to the next branch. They were half way the bouncy tree.
“Stop!” Shouted Gingy. “When you are at the top, jump on the purple candy to drop you down.”
“Right then.” They shouted.
“Ok. Let’s jump on the purple ones.” said Katie.
“Let’s jump.” Chloe said.
Drop. Drop. Drop…
They landed.
“That was awesome.” They both screamed.
Gingy told the girls they were just about at the Gummy Bear Village.
“Yay,” They said.
“Let’s keep going then.” Said Gingy.
“Look, it’s a big live-in gummy bear.”
“Awesome.” Exclaimed Chloe.
“It’s so cute.” Whispered Katie.
“My name is Jelly.” The gummy bear smiled.
“Hi Jelly.” Said Katie.
“Hi. I’m Chloe, this is my friend Katie.”
“Hello, welcome to the Gummy Bear Village.”

Quick Update

Hi guys,

As you can see it has been a LONG time since i have updated this blog. I didn't mean to leave it this long just life got in the way.
I sadly lost two family members quite close together and then not long after that we were told my gran had cancer. Therefore, i have been taking her to hospital appointments and things.
I am still writing my novels that were due for release. However, now i am not writing them as much.
I am still going to finish these, it is just going to take me longer than i had originally planned.

Hopefully i will have more of an update for you soon

Excerpt
He was still waiting when I joined him again, composed. He stood with his back against the wall, his hands lost deep into the folds of his pockets. He was studying his shoes, his hair falling in thick fringes over his eyes. Those blue eyes rose, crystalline pools of electricity, and met mine, and my world stopped. My breath stopped. My heart would have stopped if it wasn’t drumming a tempo of pure elation at the sight of him. It ached, so desperate for the need to be closer. God, it was never close enough. I could crawl into him, burrow into his soul and it wouldn’t be enough.
I took a step closer, as unsteady as a new born calf. He caught my hand, reeled me to him without ever pushing away from the wall. I was pulled into the space between his feet, held there as he bent my arm and twisted it around my own waist. I was pressed into him, his thighs hard against mine. I felt his heartbeat through the fingertips he traced over the curve of my cheek.
Stop touching me,” I gasped, cotton-mouthed, half-crazed by the possibility that he might take me seriously.
Why?” His breath fanned over my dry and already parted lips.
I opened my eyes, surprised to find them closed. “Because I won’t want you to stop.”
The band of steel around my waist tightened until I was supported only by him, by his arm, his chest, his heat, his scent… God, I was home! My fingers curled into the soft material of his fresh, clean shirt. He must have changed, but it was yet another black t-shirt.
I can’t.” His lips wrote each word against mine in the caress of butterfly wings.
My bones liquefied. I nearly fainted.
Why?” The single word was a mere movement of my lips.
His free hand shackled my chin, guided my face up, held me prisoner to eyes much too animal to be human. “Because I don’t want to stop.”
If there was ever any possibility of remembering to breathe, it was gone. I was barely conscious, barely even sane as I sunk into blissful madness cured only by his lips… his touch.
Touch me!” My desperate plea was met with a fierce growl.
His eyes, dark, feral, bore into mine. “Not here!”
I opened my mouth to protest, to beg, but his finger against my lips became a barricade, trapping the words on my tongue.
Don’t!” he hissed. His finger drew back, traced the curve of my bottom lip. His eyes followed the slow caress the way a cat watches a canary. “I can’t promise I’m completely in control right now.”

I originally had a friend design the cover for free, as financially i couldn't afford a cover at the time.
Over time i have just started to dislike the cover and feel like it is letting the book down.
Therefore, i have had the cover updated.
The amazing Lyn Stanz (http://stanzalonedesign.weebly.com/) made this awesome cover.

Check it out. A reminder that the short stories collection is free :D

Finding Trust Cover Reveal

Leah had been a daddies girl, always taking his side when her parents had their petty debates, pacing the floor waiting for him to come home from work where she would run into his arms and the bed time stories he would read to her at night.
Then one day it all changed, her dad packed his things and left with another woman.
Since then Leah doesn't trust anyone, especially men. She watches the world pass from behind the walls she had barricaded herself with.
Then they come. The new neighbour with her daughter who refuses to leave Leah alone and the older brother who might just teach Leah to trust again

Mini Finding Trust teaser!

"No Darien, I do not know the stars."

"Come lye here and I'll show you." Darien patted the ground next to him.

I looked at the spot of grass like it was a mine field.

"Come on. I won't bite." He smirked at my obvious unease. "Not even if you beg me too."

Finding Trust Teaser!

Thought it was time I gave you guys another preview of Leah and Darien. This is one of my favorite moments between them. I am so excited and this book and can't wait to let you guys read it.  Hope you enjoy!

“Unfortunately, there is only enough room for one arrogant person in my family.”
“In your family?" I scoffed. “I’m surprised they can even put up with you. If you lived with me-“
“Having you been thinking about that?” Darien winked. “You and I living together.”
“Darien by the time your ego is taken into the equation there would be no room for a relationship.” I snapped despite the blush that crept over my cheeks.
Darien came over to the fence and leaned his arms against it, now he was so close that I could feel his breath against my face. “So you have been thinking about it.”
“I don’t need to think about it to know what kind of person you would be in a relationship. Self centered, jealous-“
“I’ll stop you right there Books.” Darien put his finger on my lips to silence me. “I am never jealous.”
I stared as his eyes fixated on me, kept frozen on the spot all because of one little finger on my lips.
“Do you know why?” He whispered leaning in even closer to speak into my ear. “Because when I am with a girl. She is my world. She has no other reason to look elsewhere because I am always there, so there is never a reason for me to be jealous.”

Sneak Peak!!

I just posted this to face book, but encase you don't have that, or don't follow me on it.
Here's a little preview of something that i will be releasing soon :D

So here it is :

Now about this book.” Sadly his hand left my foot and he turned his attention back to the book. “It's not in a language I can understand.” He looked at me curiously. “Can you read it?”
I frowned. I hadn't even looked at the writing in the book, I had gotten out of the house as fast as humanly possible when it started all it's freaky mumbo jumbo magic stuff. Crawling over to the book cautiously, I slowly peered over Eston's shoulders at the pages.
Was he having a laugh? “Of course I can read it, it's in English.”
Eston smirked, and not the kind of smirk that makes me go weak at the knees, but the kind of smirk that makes me think I’m about to get into a whole lot of trouble.

I will be doing a cover reveal in the next week or so for this!
Hope you guys like it :D

Friday 8 March 2013

What's going on!

Well it has been a little while since i gave you guys an update so thought i would do one now.

I have finally chosen the cover i want for Finding Trust and have picked a cover for the little side project i have been working on too ;)

Finding Trust is currently getting edited :D YAY! final stages. I know i have promised release dates prior for this book and have let you guys down. Due to moving rooms about and whatnot i lost my hard drive, luckily i had a hard copy but it meant i had to type it all up again. Then three relatives got taken into hospital, so i have been running family members up and down to see them, which is difficult as they are in three different hospitals! Nightmare.

At the moment i am not going to give a date for it's release, but will post the date about a week before hand. This is just because i don't want to let you guys down again.

The side project I've been working on is a novella titled Soul Taker I have chosen the cover for this also so i will be doing a cover reveal next month for this and Finding Trust, when they are ready.

Soul Taker should be ready about the same time as Finding Trust, so should have two ebooks ready soon. Also some sneak peaks coming your way :D

Just a little more info on Soul Taker. I have decided to set it in the town of Stirling  where i live. I thought about this for a while before i decided to do it, because i know readers from abroad may find it hard to relate to the area. Places like Edinburgh are easier to base a book when your setting it in Scotland due to it being a larger tourist area, but i just felt like this story fitted in with Stirling so well.

What i am planning to do in the next few weeks is upload some pictures of the places that will be mentioned in the novella so you can see the places for yourself and i am going to post some historic facts about Stirling and Stirling Castle.

Look forward to releasing my work for you guys!

Love
Serena x

Update!

Hey Guys!

In regards to the post below. I have decided to get another cover done for Finding Trust
Just over the last few weeks I have found a lot of ebooks using the same picture on my cover and i want something different.

I should have the cover coming to you in the next few weeks.

Also Finding Trust should be released not long after that.
Temporary set back as i have moved and in the process lost my hard drive and broken my laptop (I have all the luck in the world)

Also I recently began jotting down ideas for a novella that i was planning to start after Finding Trust was released, but with that lost at the moment i have started writing the novella, so that may be released sooner. Sneak peaks to follow ;)
